Why Design Research?

I'm a User Experience and Design Researcher who is passionate about partnering with designers to improve the user experience through the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data gathered by various research methods. I thrive in work environments that encourage communication throughout the process of development and where success is defined as understanding and achieving customer goals.

Design Thesis:

How can experiential design concepts help young women in their 20's use behavioral modification to improve their perception of their body image?

Going into my last semester in college and into my thesis project, I wanted to help solve a problem that affects a lot of people, mainly how they view themselves on a daily basis. After refining my scope to a more manageable scale for the purposes of my project and timeline, I found the specific problem and group of people that I want to help; young women in their 20's and their perceptions of their bodies. I believe that because there are so many influences in today's society that try to structure our beliefs about ideal body size and what is "attractive", that young women need a way to bolster their perceptions of themselves and feel more confident when facing these outside influence.
